Hi stands for Human Intelligence.
We love social media as much as anyone. But somewhere between the oh-so-popular AI, the oh-so-smart bots and algorithms that apparently know us better than we know ourselves, our feeds stopped simply showing us what’s happening around us. Instead, they decide what we should see, when we should see it—and what gets buried altogether. So you might miss the event happening down the street, the meeting that matters, the new business opening in town or the story everyone will be talking about tomorrow—but somehow still get an ad for the shoes you told someone you wanted last night.
We think there’s still something to be said for Human Intelligence.
For more than 20 years, Reflections has made it our business to know Richmond Hill, tell its stories and keep our community connected. We print our magazine twice a year—but Richmond Hill doesn’t exactly wait six months to give us something to talk about. There’s so much happening in between, and we have so much more we want to share with you.
So, we’re taking matters into our own hands.
Hi from Reflections is hyper-local content, curated for you, by us. Think of it as your weekly dose of Reflections—your trusted local voice and source for what’s happening, what’s coming and what you don’t want to miss around Richmond Hill.
No algorithm deciding what makes the cut. No bot guessing what matters to you. Just locally sourced information, human-fed and human-thought-through, by people who live here, work here and spend our days paying attention to this community.
Our plan is to land in your inbox every Monday morning with the things you need to know for the week ahead—what’s happening, what’s coming, what you shouldn’t miss and maybe a few things you didn’t know.
This first one is arriving on a Thursday because, as it turns out, Human Intelligence comes with a few last-minute kinks, too. We’ll get there.
And we want your help making Hi better. What are we missing? What do you want to see every week? What would make this something you look forward to opening?
Text us and tell us. Send us your ideas, your feedback and the things happening around Richmond Hill that you think people need to know.
Welcome to Hi from Reflections. Hyper-local. Human-curated. Richmond Hill.
