RICHMOND HILL, GA – February 8, 2024 – Life Moves Dance Studio (LMDS) is hosting a fundraising 5K run on Saturday, February 17, in Richmond Hill’s J.F. Gregory Park located at 521 Cedar Street.  This inaugural event is designed to help children “dance away” the winter blues by providing scholarships for children entering dance competitions and supporting the nonprofit organization, Healthy Kids Running Series.  Starting at      8:00 a.m. on February 17 with a Kids Fun Run, this will be followed by the 5K run/walk at 8:30 a.m.

There are many ways to get involved and this family friendly event offers a raffle, silent auction, and prizes for the best dance inspired costume.  Registration is priced at $30 per person to participate in the run/walk and receive a commemorative race T-shirt, with participation in the Kids Fun Run at only $10 per child.

“We are grateful to our sponsors and community members who have made this event possible,” said Teresa Merritt, owner of Life Moves Dance Studio.  “We hope to see many in our community come out in support, and make this event into an annual tradition for all families.”

LMDS is celebrating 25 years in Richmond Hill, and this family-owned business focuses on the joy of dancing and the well-being of each student. Dance technique and performance is strongly encouraged to build a solid foundation on which each dancer can continue to grow as an artist and individual. In 2022, LMDS began its competition program, and their performance team performed both locally and out of state.  To support local children and enable them to participate in these competitions while furthering their dance training, scholarships are offered to help fund convention and competition fees. The 5K event will raise money for this program as well as supporting the nonprofit organization, Healthy Kids Running Series, which engages communities and families by providing an inclusive youth running experience, inspiring kids to believe in themselves and lead an active healthy lifestyle.
