Pups, People & Plenty of Personality
The pups were showing out at Fish Tales—and their people were right there with them. Howl-O-Ween Yappy Hour brought a great turnout to the river on October 22, with four-legged friends and their humans embracing the season in costumes that deserved a second look.
From Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet and Tigger to the Grinch and his faithful friend Max, familiar characters came to life with a little help from some very willing—or wonderfully patient—pups. Creative duos, trios and solo standouts filled the crowd, with their people putting just as much personality into the festivities.
Grinch & Max claimed Crowd Favorite, while Little Red Riding Hood & Big Bad Wolf and Disney Princess Family earned Judge’s Favorite. In the Small Dog category, Tiger took first place, followed by the Winnie the Pooh family in second and Cowgirl in third. The Large Dog category saw the UGA Football team finish first, Beanie Baby second and Golden Girls third.
Hosted by Bryan Animal League, the evening brought together costume contests, a dog pie-eating contest and raffles in support of local homeless pets. All proceeds benefit homeless animals at the local shelter, giving the community’s enthusiastic turnout an even greater purpose.
A huge thank-you goes to the Broomes and the Fish Tales crew, Wendy and Mark Bolton, Bark Park and every contestant who helped make the evening so much fun. The creativity was memorable, but the support behind it was what made this Yappy Hour especially sweet.
