New collaborations strengthen CB2TB’s P.R.O.S.P.E.R. 2.0 (WINGS) initiative with paid fellowships, FAA Part 107 credentialing, and portable career pathways for military families, while a new AmeriCorps VISTA designation builds CB2TB’s organizational capacity

RICHMOND HILL, Ga. — August 4, 2026 — Combat Boots 2 The Boardroom (CB2TB) today announced a new phase of its military spouse workforce development work through strategic partnerships with the U.S. Department of War and SpouseWorks (formerly SECO, the Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program). The collaborations expand CB2TB’s P.R.O.S.P.E.R. 2.0 (WINGS) initiative, adding paid fellowship opportunities, nationally recognized workforce credentials, and direct pathways to meaningful careers for military spouses.

As the home of Georgia’s first Veteran & Military Spouse FAA Part 107 Workforce Development Cohort Model, CB2TB is tackling one of the military community’s most persistent workforce challenges: building careers that survive frequent Permanent Change of Station (PCS) moves.

At the center of the program is the FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification — a federally recognized credential that travels with military spouses anywhere in the world and does not require relicensing after every move. That portability opens doors to careers in aviation, emergency management, public safety, infrastructure inspection, construction, agriculture, logistics, media, and other high-growth industries.

Program Highlights

P.R.O.S.P.E.R. 2.0 (WINGS) wraps participants and their families in holistic support — pairing nationally recognized certifications with wrap-around services built around the realities of military life. Highlights include:

  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot certification prep and hands-on drone training, increasing women’s access to careers in the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) workforce
  • Horse Equine Therapeutic Centered Education, delivered in partnership with Faith Equestrian Therapeutic Center, supporting the mental wellness of military spouses and their families
  • A personalized career assessment through Desired Hires, using evaluation-based questions aligned with the U.S. Department of Labor’s O*NET framework to match participants with career interests and pathways
  • Agri-Business pathways built with local farmers, connecting drone technology to precision agriculture, entrepreneurship, and subscription-based recurring service and product models
  • Paid Military Spouse Fellowship positions with CB2TB in nonprofit leadership, workforce development, strategic partnerships, and community engagement (while positions and resources support request)
  • Professional networking and employer engagement connecting participants with industry leaders and hiring partners
  • Portable workforce credentials and family-centered wrap-around support built for life on the move — just a few of the benefits included

CB2TB Named an AmeriCorps VISTA Sponsor Site

CB2TB has also been approved as an AmeriCorps VISTA Sponsor site and grant recipient, opening the door to onboarding AmeriCorps VISTA members who will serve alongside CB2TB staff to strengthen the organization’s long-term capacity — supporting program infrastructure, community partnerships, and the systems needed to scale initiatives like WINGS. AmeriCorps VISTA members are federally supported volunteers assigned specifically to build the capacity of nonprofit organizations fighting poverty; CB2TB’s designation reflects growing federal confidence in its organizational readiness and mission impact.

“After serving nearly 20 years in the federal government and spending more than 25 years as a military spouse, I know firsthand the challenges military spouses face when trying to build a career while serving alongside our nation’s military,” said Lynnetta M. Smith, MPA, Executive Director and Co-Founder of Combat Boots 2 The Boardroom. “P.R.O.S.P.E.R. 2.0 (WINGS) was designed to remove barriers by providing paid professional experience, nationally recognized credentials, and workforce opportunities that move with military families — not against them.”
