A few details you’ll need to know:
There will be only 10 tour groups of 10 people with specific departure times (beginning at 6:40 pm and ending at 9:40 pm). When you pre-register, you’ll choose your time, based on availability. Take advantage of this personalized experience, socially distanced in an outdoor environment.
Cost: $25 per person, children under 3 are free
Experience the fort in a whole new light with a guided candlelit tour – an annual tradition since 1980. Living history programs include soldiers performing their evening duties and civilian life during the Civil War. Tours include stops at the blacksmith’s shop, hot shot furnace, hospital, powder magazine, jail and more. As is tradition, period songs will be performed by the Minick Family. Visitors will also get to see an exclusive nighttime cannon firing.
Enjoy this fall evening of history, some surprises (no jump scares), period music, a little humor, and an overall experience you won’t soon forget.
Guests are encouraged to leave their flashlights at home in favor of an authentic candlelight setting.

ABOUT FORT MCALLISTER:
Located south of Savannah on the banks of the Ogeechee River, Fort McAllister showcases the best-preserved earthwork fortification of the Confederacy. The earthworks were attacked seven times by Union ironclads but did not fall until 1864 — ending Gen. William T. Sherman’s “March to the Sea.” Visitors can explore the grounds with cannons, a furnace, bombproof, barracks, palisades and more, while a Civil War museum contains artifacts, a video and gift shop.
Nestled among giant live oaks, Spanish moss and salt marsh, this park is a beautiful location for camping, fishing, boating and picnicking. Seven cabins sit on stilts near the marsh, surrounded by palm trees and palmettos. The shaded campground is bordered by tidal Redbird Creek, a boat ramp, fishing dock and nature trail. A large picnic area offers river views and playgrounds, while another boat ramp provides access to the Ogeechee River.
