Presented by JE Dunn Construction, proceeds from the tournament fund scholarships for girls whose families need assistance in order for them to participate.

According to Girls on the Run Board Member and Golf Tournament Chair, Justin Vanderbrink, “J.E. Dunn is pleased to be the Presenting Sponsor of this tournament for the third year in a row. This organization does so much to develop the social, emotional and physical competencies of the girls we serve in our 7-county area. As a dad, I am well aware of how much the girls benefit and how it helps them develop confidence and important life skills. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and thanks to the Davis Love Foundation, we are able to make even more money for the mission of Girls on the Run.”

Individuals and teams are asked to write checks or charge their cards to the Davis Love Foundation when they register for the tournament. The Foundation will match up to 40% of the donated funds, thereby maximizing the funds raised during Golfing for Girls.

Girls on the Run is a physical activity-based, positive youth development program that teaches key life skills to girls in 3rdthrough 8th grades. This is done through dynamic discussions and fun games that creatively integrate running. Girls on the Run is for elementary school girls and Heart & Sole is designed for middle school girls.

The organization is dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. Girls learn that their worth comes from within, that healthy relationships matter, and that they can be a force for good in their communities. During the program, each team creates and executes a local community service project to demonstrate the unimaginable strength that comes from helping others.

Girls on the Run is important because girls’ self-confidence begins to drop by age 9. Over 50% of girls ages 10 to 13 experience bullying. Physical activity levels decline starting at age 10 and continue to decrease throughout adolescence. Girls on the Run addresses these challenges and others.

Girls on the Run is for ALL girls, regardless of their socio-economic status. All girls can benefit from the life skills taught by highly-trained coaches who present the curriculum exactly as intended. An independent study found that girls improve their confidence, increase their level of physical activity and learn critical life skills.
