Hi from Reflections — your place for what, who and how to know everything Richmond Hill.
Week of October 14, 2026
Good afternoon.
Long Story Short
The calendar this whole month is busy!
Pour a cup of coffee. Let's figure out what you shouldn’t miss…
The Week Ahead
•  Richmond Hill High School Softball, Region 1-AAAAAAA Champions, host Etowah this afternoon (Wednesday, October 14) in the first round of the state playoffs — a doubleheader at home, starting at 4:30 PM.
•  The Bryan County Chamber's Business After Hours: 5 to 7 PM Thursday, October 15, at Crossroad Center on Highway 17 — it’s a parking lot party — well, a networking event.
•  Early voting for the November 3 general election is open: through Friday, October 30, 8 AM to 5 PM, with Saturday voting October 17 and October 24, at the Timber Trail gym, 508 Timber Trail.
•  Wildcats football is on the road at Camden County on Friday, October 16, at 7:30 PM.
•  Mark the calendar now: Bryan County Drug Take Back Day, Wednesday, October 21, 10 to 11 AM at the Richmond Hill Senior Center, 60 Towne Center Drive, and Thursday, October 22, 10 to 11 AM at the Pembroke Senior Center, 50 McFadden Drive — bring unused, expired or unwanted prescription drugs for safe disposal rather than flushing them or tossing them in the trash. Run by the Southeast Georgia Opioid Prevention Initiative, with medication lock boxes on hand.

A place for every player at Wildcat Park
When coach Hill Thomas looked at the baseball program's summer camps, he saw who was missing — children with disabilities — and built a camp around them, each participant paired with a buddy and every activity shaped to what that player can do.
“Our goal was simple: build the camp around each participant’s abilities, regardless of what those abilities may be, and make sports fun,” Thomas said.
The Adaptive Baseball Camp returns Saturday, November 14, at Wildcat Park, 500 Wildcat Blvd — ages 13–25 from 9 to 10:30 AM (check-in 8:30), ages 5–12 from 11:30 AM to 1 PM (check-in 11), equipment provided, players who use wheelchairs or mobility devices welcome, sponsored by Galbreath Heating & Air; registration is free through the QR code in the story linked below.

A few seats left on the Fall Trolley Tour
The Richmond Hill Historical Society's 2026 Fall Trolley Tour rolls this Sunday, October 18 — a fully guided ride to nine sites around town, including three never-before-visited spots within Ford Field & River Club.
The 3 PM tour is sold out, but as of yesterday, there were still spots on the 2 PM, leaving from the historic Henry Ford Kindergarten building at 11460 Ford Avenue; arrive 45 minutes early for the museum exhibits.
Tickets range $45 to $60 on the society's site — one of its longest-running fundraisers for the museum, and worth the Sunday.

Georgia, No. 1 for business — 13 years running
Area Development magazine has named Georgia the top state for doing business for the 13th straight year in its 2026 rankings, drawn from a survey of site-selection consultants and announced by Governor Kemp's office on September 23.
It's not an abstraction for us — a state that keeps landing projects is the backdrop for the growth we see along the coast.
The top 10:
1. Georgia
2. Texas
3. Tennessee
4. North Carolina
5. Ohio
6. South Carolina
7. Alabama

Two teams playoff bound!
Two reasons to smile at Richmond Hill High this week. The Wildcats softball team finished as Region 1-AAAAAAA Champions (21-7), a perfect 13-0 in region play. Don’t miss their doubleheader against Etowah, the first round of the state playoffs this afternoon, Wednesday, October 14. Game one starts at 4:30 PM.
And the volleyball team closed its regular season at 28-9. Playoff game this weekend, TBD on time and location. We will post on our social feeds.
A proud fall all around.

It takes a village: the Christmas Angel Program is open
The Bryan Children's Fund has supported many of this community's children over the years, and applications for its Christmas Angel Program are open now through November 20 — if your family could use a hand this Christmas, apply online at bryan.gafcp.org, a program of Bryan County Family Connection.
And if you're the neighbor who wants to help, the angel trees will start appearing around town closer to the holidays; it takes a village. Next week we'll share the story of the Santa Scramble, the Good Ol' Boys' golf tournament and one of Richmond Hill's longest-standing charity efforts, and how to sign up to play.
There's a Saturday in November already asking for your attention — and a full week before it.
We'll see you around town.
Bye!
for now…
