DESCRIPTION:WHAT: Richmond Hill Historical Society Presents Elizabeth DuBose of the Ossabaw Island Foundation. Ms. DuBose has served as the Executive Director of the Foundation since 1998. A native of Atlanta\, she holds a B.A. in American Studies from Hollins College (now Hollins University) and an M.A. in Historic Preservation from Savannah College of Art and Design. During her tenure at TOIF\, Ms. DuBose has led all aspects of the organization: advocacy for Ossabaw’s Heritage Preserve designation and gatekeeper for appropriate island use; program development\, fiscal management and fundraising; stewardship of buildings and equipment on the northern half of Ossabaw Island including the restoration or stabilization and maintenance of ten historic buildings on Ossabaw Island; historical research related to Ossabaw Island; and hosting of approximately 20 groups per year on the island (about half of all trips) for overnight stays or day trips\, including providing expertise on tabby-making\, historic preservation techniques\, indigo dyeing\, and dye-making\, hurricane impacts\, and the history of the native population\, the enslaved African-American and Freedmen of Ossabaw\, 20th century intellectual/creative community\, and colonial-era through present-day ownership and use of the island. \nMs. Dubose will speak about the history of the island and the current topics of interest. \nWHERE: Richmond Hill History Museum \n11460 Ford Avenue \nRichmond Hill\, Georgia 31324 \nWHEN: Thursday\, January 5\, 2023 \n6:30 p.m. *Please note the new time \nCOST: This lecture is free for members of the Historical Society and $5 for non-members.

While many tasks lie ahead\, making these families feel welcome and helping them adjust to life here is essential. \nThe long-term success of large-scale\, multi-cultural\, international economic development projects requires an awareness of — and sensitivity to — both language and cultural differences. Over the past 20 years\, Montgomery\, Alabama\, home to the first Hyundai manufacturing plant in North America\, successfully navigated the challenge of welcoming and integrating South Korean executives and managers and their families into communities across several counties. \n“It’s important that we build good long-term relationships for a successful future with Hyundai.
